Amyre Makupson

Amyre Makupson anchors WGXA News at 5 and 10 on Fox 24, and WGXA News at 6 and 7 on ABC 16.

Amyre, a Detroit native, joined the WGXA News team in October, 2013. She previously worked in Lima, Ohio, where she did nearly every job in the newsroom as an anchor, reporter, producer, writer, photographer and editor.

After graduating with honors from Howard University in Washington, DC, with a degree in broadcast journalism, Amyre earned her Master of Arts degree in communications, again with honors, from Wayne State University in Detroit.

Amyre was bitten by the news bug early as her mother, also named Amyre, was a news anchor in the Detroit market for many years. Amyre spent many hours in newsrooms growing up and recalls sessions sitting at the news desk in the afternoon after school, reading the prompter.

Amyre says she has always loved the southern hospitality that Georgia has to offer and is excited to be a part of the Macon community.

In her spare time, Amyre enjoys spending time with her family and friends while exploring all of the amazing attractions Georgia has to offer.
