A special dedication ceremony Friday night at Macon's First Presbyterian Day School where the Vikings football team renamed their field for the biggest fan and alum, Austin Childers.
A packed house was there for the 2009 graduate, who suffers from a rare mitochondrial disease. The school, state and local officials were there, as were Austin's family and friends, like longtime football coach Bill Curry, who says he was honored to be at the event.
After the ceremony, we caught up with the man of the hour who says he was a little overwhelmed by such a show of love and support support from the community. Childers says he didn't quite know what to expect, as his parents kept him hid from the crowd before the ceremony. Other well wishers included Georgia Governor Nathan Deal and University of Georgia Head Football Coach Mark Richt.
