Two Macon men were arrested over the weekend on charges related to last week's burglary of Classic Firearms on Columbus Road in western Bibb County
Macon Police officers learned from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office that two persons of interest in the breakin, during which more than 60 guns were stolen, had been seen in Precinct 4.
After photos of two subjects were distributed, the pair was spotted by Precinct 4 officers and the MPD STRIKE Team in the 3400 block of Travis Blvd.
Upon seeing police approach, Shamarko Treyvonne Newson, Jr., 17, ran into a house. Joshua Logan, 19, was questioned by police but found to be uncooperative with the officers and was cuffed and arrested.
A search warrant was obtained, and during a search of the residence, numerous firearms were discovered inside the house.
BSO deputies took custody of Newson and Logan and transported them to the Bibb Law Enforcement Center.
Newson was charged with 1st degree furglary; willful obstruction of law enforcement-misdemeanor; a state court bench warrant; purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana; simple battery and a probation violation.
