The Grand Opera House presents “Thank You for the Music: A Modern Tribute to ABBA,” which brings to life the music of Swedish pop supergroup ABBA, this Friday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m.

This professional, touring production features powerful harmonies, high-energy dance and the unforgettable hits of ABBA in a contemporary tribute concert experience. The four-member cast takes the audience on a sonic journey through “Dancing Queen,” “Super Trooper,” “Waterloo,” “Take a Chance on Me,” “Fernando,” “Mamma Mia” and many more.

Tickets are $25. Call 478-301-5470, weekdays between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., or buy online at

“We are so excited to bring this dynamic performance to The Grand,” said Phil Banze, interim director of the theater.

“ABBA is a band that transcends time with so many great songs that everyone knows. We’re also excited to partner with Backdrops Fantastic, a Macon-based theatrical backdrops producer, to show off some of their amazing work as part of the show.”

When the band formed in 1972, its four members created the name ABBA from their first names: Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn and Anni-Frid. ABBA’s music has been featured recently in the Broadway hit musical and movie of the same name, “Mama Mia!”
