An animal welfare group's mascot is another year older and to celebrate, the group is bringing awareness to community issues.
Central Georgia Cares and GEICO held AC Pup's "5th" birthday party Saturday at the Georgia Industrial Children's Home.
The theme this year: "It Takes a Village" to care for our children and pets.
In lieu of presents, guests were asked to bring pet food. Rescue groups also brought adoptable dogs out to the party in hopes they may find a home.
"We've had a ton of people out here and this is just a testament to how our community feels about animals. We are an animal friendly community and it's only going to grow." -- Patti Jones, Central GA CARES Chairman
There was a doxie derby as well as a mascot dance off to help round out the activities for a doggone good time.
