LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — Investigators in Massachusetts are looking into whether an alarm system was working in the apartment building where a fast-moving fire killed four adults and three children. They're also looking into reports that sounds of fireworks or an explosion preceded the flames.

Thearan Sak says his brother, Torn Sak, and Torn's longtime companion, Ellen Vuong, died in Thursday's pre-dawn fire, along with three of the couple's children, a 7-year-old girl, a 9-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy.

Sak says his brother enjoyed fireworks and stored some in his Lowell apartment.

Authorities haven't confirmed the identities of the victims.

A Cambodian community group and local Buddhist monks led a vigil near the burned building Thursday evening. Lowell has one of the nation's largest populations of Cambodian descent, including several of the victims.
