The American Cancer Society of Houston County is seeking volunteers for the Cancer Prevention Study-3.
The study will follow the health and habits of 300,000 people from all across America for the next 20 to 30 years in an effort to research the causes of cancer. The Houston County ACS hopes to commission at least 250 people from around Middle Georgia for the study.
Participants will be asked to attend an initial enrollment appointment, then commit to completing follow up surveys usually one time every other year for the next 20 to 30 years.
"This will enable people in our area to make a difference without it costing them one dime, just a little bit of blood draw and a waist measurement and some information about their lifestyle," said Joyce Phillips, a cancer survivor and volunteer with the ACS.
Participants must be between 30 and 65-years-old and have never been diagnosed with cancer.
