Applications are now being accepted for the Cherry Blossom Festival pageants.
Applications for the Queen and Princess Pageant, the Little Mr. and Miss Pageant, and the Senior Queen and Princess Pageant can be downloaded from www.CherryBlossom.com or can be picked up at the Cherry Blossom Office.
Applications for the Queen and Princess Pageant must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13. Applications for the Little Mr. and Miss Pageant and the Senior Queen and Princess must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4.
The Queen and Princess Pageant will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Grand Opera House where the contestants will be evaluated on poise, personality, intelligence, public speaking ability, current and future goals, involvement in the community, and extracurricular activities. The competition will include a personal interview and an appearance in a pink evening gown.
The Little Mr. and Miss Pageant will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Howard High School Auditorium. Eligible children, ages 4-6, will have a stage appearance and a brief interview with the Emcee. The Little Mr. and Miss will receive a trophy, sash, and crown, and all contestants will receive a trophy.
The Senior Queen and Princess will be crowned at the Queen and Princess Pageant on Nov. 16. The contestants will be evaluated by a panel of individuals, including civic leaders and Festival enthusiasts, based on their application and two letters of recommendation.
The Cherry Blossom Festival Queen will receive a $2,000 scholarship and each Princess will receive a $500 scholarship to the school of their choice, as well as a crown or tiara, royalty sash, and flowers.
The Queen and Princesses will serve as ambassadors for the Festival and the city of Macon, appearing throughout the region at official Festival events during the year.
A contestant in the Queen and Princess Pageant must be a legal resident of the state of Georgia, enrolled as a senior (grade 12) in a public or private high school, and hold a 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale. A contestant may not currently be holding any title that will conflict with her obligation as Cherry Blossom Festival Queen or Princess. Current titles must be disclosed and approved by the pageant committee.
