Macon-Bibb County fire crews spent Tuesday morning cleaning up a fuel spill off Highway 247.
Lt. Sean DeFoe with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office tells WGXA, Timothy Thomas of South Carolina was driving a 2010 Freightliner truck when his front tire blew out on the Industrial Highway overpass. DeFoe says the truck hit the concrete bridge knocking off some of the concrete onto two cars below the bridge on Highway 247. The truck then hit the guardrail and came back onto the highway.
DeFoe says 80 gallons of fuel spilled when the fuel tank came off the truck during the accident. No one was injured during the crash.
The roadway is expected to reopen at noon.
