ATLANTA (AP) - Christopher Blake has been named president of Middle Georgia State College in Macon.
The Board of Regents approved the hire Wednesday. Blake, most recently president of Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, had been the sole finalist for the position and will start Jan. 1.
Blake takes the helm of a college formed earlier this year by the consolidation of Macon State and Middle Georgia colleges. John B. Black had been serving as interim president.
Chancellor Hank Huckaby says Blake's "experience and drive" will move the college in the right direction.
The college has an enrollment of nearly 9,000 students with campuses in Macon, Cochran, Dublin, Eastman and Warner Robins.
Blake also served previously as provost of Mount Saint Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Md.
