The Centreplex is transforming into the big easy Friday night to host Bragg Jam’s Patron party.
River boat style gambling and a New Orleans brass band are set to play at the event kicking off at 7.m.
Unfortunately, it’s not open to the public but the Bragg Jam concert crawl Saturday welcomes all music lovers to downtown Macon.
For one night, 57 bands, on 14 stages including Twang! Southern Tastes and Sounds and The Hangar Bar and Grill will host the 15th annual Bragg Jam.
“Each stage sort of has a flavor we got hip/ hop R & B, funk, soul rock n’ roll, singer-songwriter,” concert crawl organizer, Sean Pritchard said.
Headlining this year are the five time Grammy award winning gospel group, “Blind Boys of Alabama.” They’ll perform at the Cox Capital Theater at 9:45 p.m.
Another big act coming to town is country musician, Sam Hunt. He is expected to rock out The Crazy Bull at midnight and likely to play his breakthrough hit, “Leave the Night On.”
Before the concert crawl, Bragg Jam will host the annual Arts and Kids Festival starting at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Georgia Sports Hall Of Fame.
"The kids don't come to the concert crawl and it’s just our opportunity to give something back to the community," Arts and Kids Fest committee chair, Scott Corkery said.
The free family friendly event will feature performances by aspiring youth musicians. Non-profits will set up tents for arts and crafts and there willl also be food vendors, a rock wall and a new activity.
"A water, water bouncy castle, I hope that gets the kids a little excited,"Corkery said.
When the sun goes down, live music will take over the night. To accommodate the crowds, Cherry St. along with portions of Second and Third streets will be closed to traffic. Those who plan to attend are encouraged to park and use the trolley service. It will shuttle ticket holders for free from Margaritas on Bass Rd., Twang! Southern Tastes and Sounds and Hangar Bar and Grill to Downtown Macon and back.
Tickets for Bragg Jam are available for $20 until midnight at www.braggjam.org
Saturday, tickets will be $25 and can be purchased at Margaritas on Bass Rd., Twang! Southern Tastes and Sounds, Hangar Bar and Grill and the Bragg Jam tent at Third St. park. The armband provides access to all the venues until Bragg Jam ends.
