NEW YORK (AP) — A fire that started on the second floor of a six-story Bronx building a few blocks from Yankee Stadium has left three children dead. New York police say a 25-year-old woman, 4-year-old girl and 4-month-old girl were treated for smoke inhalation and are in stable condition. ROSEVILLE, Calif. (AP) — Officials are anticipating a nightlong standoff with a man holed up in a California house after allegedly shooting four law enforcement personnel, including a federal immigration officer. Helicopters have been circling the Sacramento suburb while armored vehicles and other police cars surround the hose in the Roseville area. Residents were being bused to a community center. The quake triggered small tsunamis but causing no damage. An Japanese earthquake official says the quake was an aftershock of the deadly magnitude 9.0 earthquake and tsunami that struck the same area in 2011. DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is claiming the partial federal government shutdown is a win because it got people talking about the Affordable Care Act conservatives want to dismantle. He spoke to influential Iowa Republicans Friday, saying the shutdown "elevated the national debate."
