ATLANTA (AP) — The annual 40-day legislative session in Georgia is heading to a busy close.
By law, Georgia legislators meet 40 working days every year. The final session is scheduled for Thursday. Any bills that do not pass by midnight automatically fail for the year.
Politicians have been eager to wrap up this legislative session relatively quickly. They cannot raise money to campaign in elections later this year until the General Assembly finishes its business.
Legislators still face major decisions on whether to expand the places where people can carry firearms and allow a medical marijuana program.
