LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louisville junior end Lorenzo Mauldin has been named the American Athletic Conference's defensive player of the week for his dominant performance against rival Kentucky. Mauldin had three tackles for loss including two sacks and forced two fumbles in Saturday's 27-13 victory that saw the No. 7 Cardinals (3-0) shut out the Wildcats on 13 third-down chances. His second-quarter stop of Kentucky running back Raymond Sanders for a 2-yard loss on one third down led to Louisville's first touchdown on its next possession. The Atlanta native leads Louisville with 2 1/2 sacks for 24 yards and is tied for seventh with nine tackles.
