The CDC says Lyme disease cases in the U.S are vastly under-reported.
This conclusion comes from findings of three ongoing studies by the CDC. Each study using different methods to determine the number of Americans diagnosed with the tick-borne disease every year.
More than 30 thousand cases of Lyme disease are reported to the CDC each year making it the most commonly reported tick-borne disease.
However the new findings suggest there are about three hundred thousand Americans diagnosed with Lyme disease each year.
The CDC advises people to use insect repellent check for ticks daily and shower soon after being outdoors in order to prevent Lyme disease.
