The Central Georgia Health Systems says due to inclement weather in the area, the hospital is closing various departments for the safety of patients and staff.
For a complete list of closed areas you can visit www.cghsalert.com. The list will be updated frequently throughout the day.
The emergency departments at The Medical Center of Central Georgia (770 Pine St., Macon) and The Medical Center of Peach County (1960 Hwy 247 Connector, Byron) will remain open for patients in need of emergency care.
Although critical personnel have reported for work at both hospitals, the public is advised to remain home until the storm system has passed unless an illness is deemed emergent or life threatening. Patients with emergent and life threatening illnesses may also call 911 for emergency care and transportation.
The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin says Outpatient appointments at the community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) from noon January 28 through January 29 are cancelled due to inclement weather. Staff will report for duty as scheduled.
River Edge Behavioral Health Center will close all outpatient sites today at noon. All residential/crisis (24/7/365) sites will remain open. River Edge’s safety officer made the decision in consultation with Emergency Services, including the Georgia State Patrol, to ensure the safety of our clients and employees.
At this time, all River Edge staff are expected to report for regular work hours on Wednesday, Jan. 29. However, the River Edge safety officer will continue to consult with Emergency Services about road conditions. If further closures are warranted, staff will be notified by their supervisor via phone. Closure information will also be posted on River Edge’s website, www.river-edge.org.
