New schools mean new zones in one Central Georgia County.

Houston County is opening the new Langston Road Elementary in Perry for the next school year.

That means some students at Matt Arthur, Kings Chapel, Morningside, Perry Primary and Tucker will be shifted into new zones.

January 21st the board will meet at 6:00pm in Perry High School's auditorium to let parents give input.

Rezoning will also impact Russell Elementary, Pearl Stephens, and Linwood at CB Watson Primary.

It's part of the Pearl Stephens-Linwood merger. When that happens CB Watson will shift to serving just pre-k through second grade.

A parent meeting on those changes is at Russell Elementary on January 22nd, at 6pm.

You can see the zoning maps at the Houston Schools website.

We have a link to that from our web page at WGXA.tv.

The board plans to finalize the new zones at its February 11th meeting.
