A gas station clerk was robbed by an armed man as he left work just after midnight east of Macon.

The Bibb County Sheriff's office is investigating the personal armed robbery in the parking lot of the Citgo gas station at 3705 Irwinton Road.

The clerk told police he had closed the business and was walking to her vehicle when a man armed with a knife or box cutter approached her and demanded money and a ride. After giving the man money, he was forced from the car and the man drove away.

The clerk ran back to the store and called 911.

Bibb Sheriff’s deputies located the car at the location that the suspect told the clerk to exit the vehicle. The clerk received three superficial cuts to the back of his neck, no other injuries reported.

The suspect is described as being a white male, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches in height and weighing between 140 to 150 lbs. The suspect wore a dark colored hoodie. No other description was reported.

Anyone with information in reference to this incident is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 and ask to leave a message for the on call investigator or call Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
