Authorities say one man is dead, and another is behind bars after a shooting in South Crawford County Tuesday.
Crawford County Coroner David Allen O'Neal says two half brothers got into an argument that escalated, and one brother shot the other in the stomach. O'Neal says deputies arrived at the 1300 block of Blasingame Road around 9:30 p.m. and found the victim already dead.
Neighbor Christiana Flanders says she heard gunshots Tuesday night, but says those types of noises are common in rural Georgia.
"We didn't really think anything of it until we started seeing cop cars out here, and then my husband saw an ambulance," Flanders said.
Not much is known about the two men. The Crawford County Sheriff's Office is not releasing the names of the victim or the alleged shooter until family members are notified. A group of people were at the home Wednesday, but declined to give out any information.
Flanders says the two brothers were relatively new to the neighborhood, moving in withing the last six to eight months.
"I met them maybe once at a gas station right down the road right after they moved in," Flanders said.
the Crawford County Sheriff's Office is releasing few details about the incident, only saying a person was fatally shot, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities say the victim's body has been sent to the GBI crime lab in Atlanta and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
