Joshua Allen Cook, the 26 year old accused of shooting both of his grandparents in the head, has been indicted on upgraded charges.

Houston County District Attorney George Hartwig tells WGXA, a grand jury stepped up the initial criminal charges against Cook, who now faces 2 counts of attempted murder and 2 counts of aggravated assault along with 4 counts of possession of a firearm during a crime.

Officers say Cook shot his 67 year old grandmother in the head before turning the gun on his 70 year old grandfather, also shooting him in the head at the couple's home in Kathleen.

Both grandparents survived the shooting.
