Officials in Byron took part in a mass casualty drill Monday which included scenarios that tested firefighters training and abilities. They had to deal with a vehicle rollover, a vehicle fire, haz-mat spill and victims with all types of injuries. Byron Fire Chief JD Mosby tells WGXA, "We wanted to make it as stressful as possible to simulate real world events. Our goal was to see how everyone performed under these conditions.” Many of the victims were made up to reflect a horrific appearance as a result of trauma which these trainees will encounter is the real world.
