A Dodge County insurance company is under fire, accused of embezzling thousands of dollars from clients.
Sarah Amber Winans of ABC Insurance Agency is wanted by the state of Georgia for defrauading at least 16-thousand dollars from her clients.
Winans is being charged with seven counts of fraud and three counts of forgery.
The Georgia Department of Insurance executed a search of the agency after complaint last year and allegedly found Winans was diverting premiums from her clients and not passing them on to the insurance companies.
Clients claim Winans got the money and they got nothing.
Misty Wilcox, a customer since last year, says she has paid the agency money and still has no insurance.
"When we come to pay they are telling us that our insurance just lapse and just yesterday I have the receipt right here showing that I paid two hundred dollars and we still don't have any insurance," Wilcox said.
Wilcox says Winans keeps giving her the run-around and the agency keeps telling her to call back at another time.
After Wilcox demanded an answer from the agency she also went to file a complaint with the Eastman Police Department.
Winans turned herself in to the Dodge County sheriff today and posted bond.
The department of insurance says it has received more complaints which may lead to additional charges.
