WGXA is sending big thanks to central Georgians for making this month’s ‘Drive Away Hunger’ food drive a success!
People were stopping by all Thursday afternoon at Lowe Toyota in Warner Robins, dropping off canned goods and cash donations hoping to help end hunger in central Georgia.
The Middle Georgia Community Food Bank ships out over 30-thousand pounds of food on an average day, so the need is huge in this region.
Another great organization has been busy recently helping to end hunger in central Georgia.
The National Association of Letter Carriers held its annual "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive last weekend. Homeowners put out non-perishable food items in mailboxes to be collected with outgoing mail. The post office will then deliver the food items to local food banks and other service organizations. Organizers say this year was a huge success!
And a Houston County attorney is victorious in a state wide competition that serves to bring awareness to hunger in Georgia.
Bo Sammons is the winner of Georgia's Legal Food Frenzy. Sammons was able to raise nearly 10-thousand pounds of food and had a great time while contributing to the cause!
Stay tuned to WGXA for details on next month's drive away hunger food drive.
