The fight to save turtles ended with a celebration at one Bibb County elementary school. Students at Lane Elementary released seven turtles into the school's courtyard on Monday. Repairs to the courtyard were paid by a Lowe's Education Grant and fundraiser held by faculty and staff. During the renovations, students adopted and cared for the temporarily displaced turtles in the classroom. The students returned the turtles back to the courtyard during a turtle release party at school on Monday. The total cost of repairing the courtyard was just over $4,000. Phillip Bunn of Mid georgia Property Enhancements also helped with the project.
