MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — An ex-Cobb County sheriff's sergeant accused of sexually assaulting jail inmates has pleaded guilty to some of the charges filed against him. The Marietta Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/17zZvk9) reported Wednesday that 37-year-old Kristopher Travitz pleaded guilty to distributing obscene materials and sexual assault against an inmate. A charge of aggravated sexual battery was dismissed. Travitz of Douglasville was a 14-year department veteran. He was accused of showing porn to two female inmates and performing sex acts with them in county jail between 2010 and 2011. Travitz was ordered to serve 15 years in prison, but will spend five years behind bars and serve the rest on probation. A second sergeant who was indicted on 18 counts of sexual assault, rape and making false statements is scheduled to appear in court Friday. ___ Information from: Marietta Daily Journal, http://mdjonline.com/
