A Mercer University alum, on a visit to Macon, says she will be leaving town Wednesday with a bad memory after a run-in with a local restaurant owner. Barbara Davis was visiting from metro Atlanta and tells WGXA she goes everywhere with her Yorkie Terrier named "Charming.” The dog is a service dog Davis says she uses to help ease anxiety. Davis says she was refused service Tuesday at Francars, a wings restaurant in Mercer Village. Davis says Francar's owner Carl Fambro refused to look at her papers showing her dog is actually a service dog. Davis says Fambro was nasty with her and only agreed to serve her after Mercer Police showed up at the restaurant. WGXA reached out to Fambro who says he was skeptical of Davis when she threatened to sue him. Fambro tells WGXA he would have served her outdoors but she refused. After Mercer Police came to the restaurant, Fambro agreed to serve her but Davis refused to eat. Davis says she had planned to head back to Atlanta but is now staying with friends so she can pick up a police report Wednesday and plans on filing a discrimination suit. WGXA will have more on this story Wednesday including the official report from the Mercer Police Department.
