It's Homeless Awarness Month and one organization from Houston County is finding ways to solve the problem and help families unite.

Family Promise sponsored Family Fest Saturday in Warner Robins.

The barbeque and concert at Perkins Park is about families helping families prevent homelessness and raising awareness about the issue.

Event organizers say the Houston County Board of Education found 176 children are homeless in its schools as of August of this year and there may be more unaccounted for.

"If we can help them and their families find a place to live, find a job we can help solve this problem." -- Dave Razo, Family Promise

The Family Promise national organization started a chapter in Houston County in May.

The program is structured to keep families together and encourage them to work through their homelessness situation and create a better living enviroment.

Right now the organization is supporting three families with eight children.
