"Boom! Like the tire blowed out, I thought the tire blowed out."
What Charles Burnett mistook as a flat tire, was in reality gun fire.
Bullets flying as Burnett and his grandson realized they were in the gunman's crosshairs.
"He said 'I'm hit grandad', sure enough, that's when I reached to the back of his head and felt the blood and everything"
Charles doesen't know if the incident was gang related. He says anywhere from 2-4 times a week, gunshots are heard in the neighborhood.
Despite Charles grandson almost losing his life, he's just glad he's still here.
"Really, with everything going on now you just cant get mad at nobody, you just thank the lord that no tragedy happened."
Charles says if he knew who pulled the trigger, he'd feel differently.
"I can't have no hard feelings because I don't know who it is"
Alyssa Jackson, was not so fortunate that night. The 16 year old Southwest High Student died in that same hail of bullets. Her father, also shares no hard feelings for the gunman.
"I forgive you. Alyssa forgives you. All you did was relieve her from this world of turmoil and strife"
Macon Police say there are no updates on the case and are still investigating.
