LYONS, Colo. (AP) — There are more Colorado National Guard members on the ground and helicopters in the air aiding in the evacuations of flood-ravaged towns in the Rocky Mountain foothills. So far, more than 1,200 people and their pets have been moved to safe areas. Residents who choose not to leave are being warned this might be their last chance for some time. XALAPA, Mexico (AP) — Ingrid is strengthening. It's Mexico's second hurricane of the Atlantic storm season. Ingrid is expected to hit Mexico's Gulf coast on Monday. Thousands of people are being evacuated. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Manuel threatens to become a hurricane as well, dumping rains that could cause flash floods and mudslides as it nears landfall on Mexico's Pacific coast. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says the U.S. remains prepared to act if diplomacy fails to end the crisis over Syria's chemical weapons. But Obama says he welcomes Saturday's agreement between the U.S. and Russia to secure and destroy those weapons. The deal calls for Syria to eliminate all its chemical weapons by the middle of next year or face U.N. penalties. HAVANA (AP) — Former Cuban President Fidel Castro is applauding a Russian-backed proposal to secure and destroy Syria's chemical weapons. In an article published Saturday in the Cuban press, Castro writes "the intelligent Russian initiative" meant "the risk that the conflict explodes with its lamentable consequences seems to have diminished." UNDATED (AP) — A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press that pro basketball superstar LeBron James has married his longtime girlfriend, Savannah Brinson. The person says James and Brinson held the ceremony at the posh Grand Del Mar Hotel in San Diego on Saturday, less than three months after he won his second straight NBA title with the Miami Heat.
