A man sought by Macon Police for more than a year was arrested Tuesday in San Antonio, Texas.
Samuel Lawrence, 32 was wanted by the Macon Police Department on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault in an Aug. 23, 2012, incident. He was arrestede by the Southwestern Regional Fugitive Task force.
Macon Police say Lawrence committed an armed robbery in August, 2012, using a handgun to demand money. He and another suspect beat the victim with the handgun and their fists, and took money and cell phones from the victim’s pockets.
Lawrence forced the victim outdoors, fought with the victim and then shot him in the leg when he ran away.
Macon Police credited the Macon Regional Crimestoppers for the tip that led to the arrest.
"This is a fine example of the community working together to facilitate an arrest," said Crimestoppers Chairman Warren Selby. "Citizens provided valuable tips to law enforcement; the media got the word out to the public; and multiple law enforcement agencies worked cooperatively to make the arrest. You can’t beat the effectiveness of those partnerships. This is Crimestoppers at work as intended.”
