COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) — A police department in western Georgia is coping after the deaths of two captains and a corporal within two months. Captain Jackey Long died in early July shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Corporal Keith Slay died in a late July car crash while he was on duty. Capt. Vince Pasko was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his house about two weeks ago. Chief of the 488-person department, Ricky Boren, told the Ledger-Enquirer of Columbus ( he's never seen so many casualties within the department in such a short time span. Slay was a narcotics task force member who was also the only person in Columbus public safety who was authorized to fly a helicopter. Long and Pasko both worked in business operations for the department. ___ Information from: Columbus Ledger-Enquirer,
