Gatlin clocks 10.02 to win 100 meter race in Tokyo

TOKYO (AP) — Justin Gatlin won the men's 100 meters on Sunday at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix in a time of 10.02 seconds.

Gatlin beat American compatriot Mike Rodgers by 0.09 seconds. Christophe Lemaitre of France was third with a time of 10.31.

Olympic 400 meter champion Kirani James of Grenada won the men's 200 with a time of 20.63, edging Michael Mathieu of the Bahamas who clocked 20.64. Kei Takase of Japan was third in 20.75.

Tianna Bartletta of the United States won the women's 100 meters with a time of 11.18, 0.27 seconds ahead of Melissa Breen of Australia. Chelsea Hayes, also of the United States, was third with a time of 11.53.
