A Baldwin County man is shot and killed late Thursday evening in Gordon.

Gordon Chief of Police Mike Hall tells WGXA, 37-year old Taurus Javon Lewis of Milledgeville was shot and just after 8:00 p.m. at a home on Burney Road.  The death marks the first possible homicide in three years in the community of Gordon.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the homeowner, 29-year old Jeffrey King told investigators he had just arrived at the home when he was approached by Lewis who was armed.  Investigators say according to King, he retrieved a weapon from his vehicle and shot Lewis multiple times in self-defense.   King is in custody undergoing questioning.  So far no charges have been filed in the case.

The case remains under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Gordon Police Department and the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office.
