TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A 30-year-old Georgia man faces 35 years in prison for killing a man and wounding three others outside a Washington motel after they allegedly insulted his girlfriend. Quentin Simmons pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree assault in connection with the Dec. 16 shooting of four California men. The News Tribune says (http://is.gd/bi0qnJ) Rigoberto D. Vargas and three friends were in the parking lot of a motel in Sumner, Wash., when a woman drove up in a car and asked where she could get marijuana. Simmons, who was in the car, took offense when the men told the woman to move on. He opened fire, killing Vargas and wounding the others. Simmons and his 29-year-old girlfriend, Elyse Gladue, fled to their native Georgia. They were arrested earlier this year. Gladue has been charged with rendering criminal assistance and is set to go to trial next month. ___ Information from: The News Tribune, http://www.thenewstribune.com
