Easier access to locally brewed beer and boutique brews is one step closer.

The Macon Bibb Commission Economic Development Committee passed an ordinance to allow the sale of growlers. That's according to city spokesperson Chris Floore and now it will move on to the full commission. The large sized bottles and jugs are used to transport beer from brew-pubs and breweries and are popular in the craft beer market. The bottles would be limited to 64 ounces and customers would not be able to drink them on premises.

Although buyers could sample beers the samples would be limited to 3 one-ounce samples in 24 hours.
