MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Cobb County prosecutors say a man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a woman who helped him during his divorce. District Attorney's spokeswoman Kim Isaza say 66-year-old Dennis Robert Bredar pleaded guilty in the death of 49-year-old Rhonda Kay Callihan. GRIFFIN, Ga. (AP) — University of Georgia officials say an invasive South American ant species has come to Georgia. UGA Extension agent James Morgan says he found the ants Aug. 15 at an Albany assisted living facility after its director called looking for help. An entomologist confirmed the insects are Nylanderia fulva — commonly known as tawny crazy ants. GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Hall County fire officials have pulled a man's body from Sunset Cove on Lake Lanier. Fire Chief David Kimbrell told the Gainesville Times that rescue crews found the 20-year-old man in about 17 feet of water yesterday. Kimbrell says the man had tried swimming with two others out to a boat. JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) — Police and the FBI have gbeen searching for a 14-year-old girl they say was abducted from her suburban Atlanta house by two men. Police said 14-year-old Ayvani Hope Perez was kidnapped by men who tried to rob her family in their Ellenwood home.
