KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Kennesaw State University has broken ground on a $4.4 million renovation and expansion of its Horace W. Sturgis Library. University officials say the project will expand space to enhance student learning, engagement and academic success. The project will add 1,600 square feet to the current 104,000-square-foot facility. WARNER ROBINS, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say the suspect in a deadly shooting at a motel in the Warner Robins area was also wounded and later died at an Alabama hospital. Authorities say 23-year-old Matthew Allen Garner died at the scene. They say 32-year-old Kenneth Robert Sharpe of Jackson, Miss., died after he was found in a restaurant parking lot in Oxford, Ala. WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop of Columbus says he has begun chemotherapy after being diagnosed with throat cancer. Bishop says he doesn't expect to be away from his congressional duties for more than a brief period. He says doctors at George Washington University Hospital are "optimistic that this tumor will be cured." WARNER ROBINS, Ga. (AP) — The impasse over the federal budget has shut down the Museum of Aviation at Robins Air Force Base. Military officials said all museums operated by the Department of Defense were ordered closed yesterday.
