ATLANTA (AP) — Authorities in Atlanta say a man working on a billboard in Atlanta fell to his death. Atlanta police Sgt. Greg Lyon told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the accident occurred yesterday across the street from Turner Field. Lyon said it appears the fall was an accident. The victim's name was not immediately available. BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) — A Brunswick man was convicted in the slayings of eight people but he will not face the death penalty. Prosecutors say they dropped a possible death sentence in a deal that allowed them to avoid a mistrial. A jury convicted 26-year-old Guy Heinze Jr. of malice murder yesterday after the trial judge replaced one juror with an alternate. ATLANTA (AP) — The first phase of a project to demolish a toll plaza on a metro Atlanta freeway is beginning. State transportation officials say the project involving toll booths, signs and highway markings on Georgia 400 begins today. Last year Gov. Nathan Deal announced the end of the .50-cent tolls and said the toll booths would be removed. LAFAYETTE, Ala. (AP) — A 7-year-old Georgia boy was killed Thursday in a one-vehicle wreck on a highway in Alabama. The Alabama Highway Patrol identified the victim as Jaylen Johnson of West Point, Ga.
