ATLANTA (AP) — Gov. Deal is expected to sign legislation next week expanding gun rights in Georgia. The bill allows those with a license to carry to bring a gun into a bar and into some government buildings. It also allows religious leaders to decide whether it's OK for a person with a carry license to bring a gun into their place of worship.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — A Savannah woman has pleaded guilty in the death of her newborn son. The child's body was found in the back of a garbage truck in 2011. Anitra Hicks has been ordered to serve 15 years in prison and 15 years on probation.

HOOVER, Ala. (AP) — A man wanted in a suburban Atlanta shooting has been arrested in Alabama. Police in Hoover say 39-year-old Marcus Lamont Payne is being held pending extradition to Georgia. Police say Payne faces murder charges in connection with a Union City shooting Wednesday that left 39-year-old Evan Campbell dead and injured a woman.

SAC CITY, Iowa (AP) — A Georgia man has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of his former roommate in Iowa. Police say 54-year-old John Green of Blairsville is accused of killing 58-year-old Mark Koster, of Sac City, Iowa.
