MCDONOUGH, Ga. (AP) — Authorities plan to quarantine a Henry County neighborhood after a rash of rabies cases. A ninth case of rabies was recently found in Hencry County. An alert and 31-day quarantine are set to start tomorrow in a McDonough neighborhood. Residents are asked to get their pets revaccinated for rabies.

ATLANTA (AP) — Winners in the Georgia Associated Press Media Editors annual broadcast contest were honored yesterday at the group's meeting in Atlanta. AP member broadcast stations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island judged the Georgia broadcast contest. Stations were judged in three divisions: radio, television stations serving markets of more than 500,000 and television stations serving markets with fewer than 500,000.

MACON, Ga. (AP) — A jury has acquitted three Macon State Prison employees of federal charges related to inmate beatings. Jurors acquitted deputy warden James Hinton, along with Corrections Emergency Response Team members Tyler Griffin and Derrick Wimbush. The verdict came in Friday.

ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta police say an officer shot a man while investigating suspected drug activity. Sgt. Gregory Lyon says officers have obtained warrants to arrest Desmond Hunter on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving stolen property, felony obstruction and carrying a weapon without a license
