An elderly Houston County couple remains in the Medical Center of Central Georgia after both survive being shot in the head by their grandson.
According to a Houston County Sheriff's Office media release, the 911 Center received a call from Rosilyn Livingston, 67, shortly before 11:00 Sunday night. Livingston stated that she had been shot in the head by her grandson, Joshua Cook, 25. Livingston alerted authorities that Cook was still somewhere in the house located in the 500 block of Lake Joy Road and armed with a .22 caliber pistol.
An investigation revealed that Cook became upset with his grandparents and shot Livingston. After shooting his grandmother, Cook located his grandfather, Thomas Livingston, 70, and shot him in the head as well.
Once deputies arrived on the scene, a wounded Livingston had already overpowered Cook and taken the pistol from his possession.
The 25-year-old was taken into custody after being treated at the Medical Center for injuries he received while being restrained by his grandfather. From there he was taken into the custody of the Houston County Sheriff's Office where he is being held without bond at the Houston County Detention Center.
Cook faces multiple charges which include two counts of aggravated assault.
