Severe weather is a year-round threat in central Georgia.
Are you ready to survive a severe weather disaster? Do you know how to protect yourself in the aftermath? Hundreds made sure Saturday that they are now able to answer 'Yes'.
Hundreds attended WGXA's Severe Weather Preparedness Expo Saturday at the Macon Centreplex.
Attendees heard riveting true stories of survival, the science behind extreme weather, tips on how to avoid fraud and more. Vendor booths were on site for shopping and demonstrations. Those in attendance were also able to talk to local, state and federal emergency preparedness organizations about safety and emergency response.
The expo featured key-note speakers. CNN Meteorologist and author of 'Extreme Weather' Bonnie Schneider and famed Storm Chaser Warren Faidley both addressed the crowd.
The entire WGXA Weather Team was on hand to meet and greet and discuss preparing for severe weather and to sign autographs for fans.
According to Chief Meteorologist Jeff Cox, there are already plans in the works for next year's Severe Weather Preparedness Expo.
WGXA would like to thank everyone who joined us for this educational experience.
