Voters in Bibb County were asked to cast their ballots for a third time Tuesday in the race for Macon-Bibb County Commissioner for District 2 between Larry Schlesinger and Henry Ficklin.
After the votes were counted, Schlesinger came out victorious over Ficklin with a 60% to 40% margin.
Schlesinger won the most recent runoff for the District 2 seat by just 26 votes, but after the discovery of a voting error that put some voters in the wrong district, Ficklin successfully challenged the results and a judge ordered Tuesday's election.
But WGXA's Chace Ambrose reports that as Tuesday's nights results began to come in to the Board of Elections, Ficklin became concerned about the number of votes reported versus the number of votes the polls claimed to have taken.
"We're concerned that the numbers we are seeing here and the numbers that were posted at the doors of the polling places are not matching up and we don't know what's going on as to whether they are adding something in, either the early vote, or the absentee into the various precincts we are not-we have not been advised as to why those numbers are greater than those posted on the door," Henry Ficklin told WGXA.
At the end of the night with all 6 precincts reporting, along with early voting and absentee ballots counted, Larry Schlesinger wins the race by a 60% to 40% margin.
