A Macon church is in the spirit of giving as many of its members help the needy with Christmas this year.

The Thomaston Church of Christ hosted its annual "Christmas Care Event" this evening.

Volunteers helped hand out more than 300 gifts to children who may not have a Christmas otherwise. Adults received bags of groceries.

The congregation works together each year to put on the event and help the needy in the community.

A church minister says many of the families here are from their care building ministry.

A grocery giveaway to the needy that happens once a month at the church.
