Memorial Day, for most, is the perfect way to bring in summer. Since Memorial Day, there have been over half a dozen homicides in Macon-Bibb County. Four homicides within the last week. The Bibb County Sherrif's Department has arrested 20-year-old Micki Antonio Brown and Lantonio Hill for the killing of an unarmed 19-year-old Majesty Conover.

No suspects have been named in the other three homicides that have happened within the past week. The solution to this violence is not a simple one, but administrators in the counties Parks and Rec Department say it starts by keeping kids busy.

"It gives them an alternative to the streets and the negativity that some of them would be involved in," says Clarence Thomas. Thomas is the administrator at the Frank Johnson Center.

The camp offers more than letting kids ride the swings and go down the slide.
