A recently resigned Macon Police Officer finds himself behind bars Friday night, charged with statutory rape.

Macon Police Spokesperson Jami Gaudet confirmed Qualls arrest and subsequent resignation and tells WGXA the investigation into Qualls began Thursday when the mother of a 15-year-old girl accused Qualls of indecent behavior with her daughter.

According to jail records, Qualls was arrested around 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon on 1 count of statutory rape.

Qualls made news in The Telegraph in March when he was sworn in as an officer and proposed to his then girlfriend Miranda Bauers. A search of Facebook reveals that Qualls is now dating Jenny Rosalynn of Macon. WGXA reached out to both women about Qualls arrest but neither would comment.

Qualls is being held on an $11,000 bond.
