Man Charged with Burglary after Pawning Loot

William Darrell Johnson, 43, was arrested by Macon Police on Thursday on charges of burglary.

Police said after receiving a list and photos of items stolen in a residential burglary, MPD Property Unit investigators discovered that Johnson had pawned several of the items shortly after the burglary.

Surveillance video was obtained from the pawn shop and a lookout was placed on Johnson and his vehicle.

A patrol officer located the vehicle, stopped it, and detained the driver, Johnson. Several of the victim’s belongings were recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.

Besides burglary, Johnson was charged with first-degree theft by deception and transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Johnson also faces an additional warrant out of Monroe County for Burglary.

This is Johnson’s 27th arrest since 1988.
