Man, Dog Struck by Macon Patrol Car

An unidentified white male is in the hospital and his dog is dead after being struck by a Macon Police patrol car Saturday. According to a release from Macon Police, the accident happened around 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Eisenhower Parkway and Bloomfield Road.

The release states the 21 year-old was walking in the middle of the left lane as the officer was attempting to pass a vehicle. The officer attempted to avoid the victim but was unable to swerve in time to avoid the collision.

The victim was transported to the Medical Center Hospital where he remains in stable condition and is receiving treatment for the injuries.  

The officer was taken to the Medical Center to be examined for injuries and have blood drawn as part of the investigation.

The case remains under investigation.
