A black man is accused of stealing a 2009 dodge charger Wednesday night after the car's owner went inside the King's Foodmart on Houston road.
The suspect drove past a Bibb County Sherrif's patrol unit on Pio Nono Avenue before crossing over the Mercer University intersection. The driver then lost control of the car. The car left the road and ran into a house at the corner of Vining Circle and Pio Nono Avenue. The car's engine caught fire in the crash. The suspect managed to get away.
No one was in the house when all of this went down.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office says it's a good reminder that even if you are just leaving your car for a few seconds, turn off the engine and take the keys with you.
