The past will remain present in Downtown Macon as the Historic Macon Foundation teams up with the Central Georgia Health System. Just last week, on October 17, demolition of 700 Spring Street began, making room for new healthcare services downtown; but they're being careful to keep the architecture preserved.
The Historic Macon Foundation has put together a salvage operation team to remove and reuse any elements from the buildings. The Central Georgia Health System plans for commemorative plaques to be posted on the outside wall of any building built later to acknowledge the area's historical significance.
